If I was in the Inner Circle

If I was in the Inner Circle, this is how i feel:
I think Mrs Maloney is the lamb as she was innocent. Mr Patrick Maloney is in the wrong and i feel that Mrs Maloney should be applauded for her actions as her husband was insensitive towards her.  Even if he wanted to leave her, he could have said it in a more sensitive manner, such as maybe going out for dinner and explain the whole situation to her. If he had done so, Mary would not act so rashly and maybe, she would accept it that he wanted to leave her. I believe that Mrs Maloney had murdered him as a crime of passion, and she was in a state of shock. Although she is wrong for murdering him, it is quite acceptable as she did not want Patrick to betray her. She wanted him to be hers as you can tell she loves him very much by reading the text. For example, she waited all day for him to come back home and it would be impossible for her to live without him. When he came home, she leaned forward to kiss him, hung his coat for him and insists that she made him his glass of whiskey.
So, i conclude that Mrs Maloney is the real lamb who was slaughtered and that it is pardonable for her not to be prosecuted as it is a crime of passion.

Inner Circle discussion

Who or what can the "real" lamb in the story
I was the blue hat and my role is - To summarize what the Seminar has achieved in this session in terms of understanding the story.
This is what i feel:
All of them understood the story very well but have different points of view. But, some of them did not read the text thoroughly and read it during the seminar. Everyone has different points of view, for example, some of them think that Mary Maloney was the lamb as she was innocent in a way that Patrick was insensetive towards her, others think that Patrick Maloney was the lamb as he was the one who was slaughtered, some think that the baby was the lamb as he was the innocent and that he was not even born and lastly, some of them feel that the lamb leg was the lamb. I think that understanding this story has achieved many things, for example some are bonded together as they some of them share same points of view while others share different points of view. But, altogether i fell that we have learnt alot due to this seminar and i would like to thank the panelists as well as Ms Gordon.

Socratic Seminar

Today's Socratic Seminar was great! It was much better than the previous day and i think that we did a great job. I feel that the panelists were impressed of our performance. maybe the cause of we doing a better job is due to the fact that there were panelists and we were "encouraged" by them. This seminar was great but i think we can improve on it!

Today's happenings

24th February 2009

Today's Science test was quite easy for me, but maybe others find it tough or extremely easy. I hope i can A1 for the test and same for eveyone in 1A4! Mrs Teo would be very happy if this is the case.

Today, our Chinese teacher, released our results. The results were shocking! Almost everyone failed, excluding those who are very good in the Chinese language, and we were all upset. Sheng Xi is very good in Chinese and always tops the class in the different aspects of the language, including Composition, the normal paper and Letter writing. Keep up the good work! (Give others a chance to score highest too!{just kidding})

Newspaper Article

Home Page B4
Title : All in a day's wok for men in blue.

This is a idea-driven story. To summarize, it tells us about two police officers going about their rounds to catch criminals and spread the crime-preventation message. These two policemen, SI Tan and Staff Sgt Ridhwan, are very responsible and loyal policemen as they can do many things in a day. For example, they cornered a youth at a block of flats in Tiong Bahru. Other examples include them apprehending a suspected illegal immigrant near Telok Blangah Road, checking the passport of a Vietnamese national, searching a suspect's bag and handin gout pamphlets with crime-preventation tips to some senior citizens. I feel that all policemen in Singapore should follow their footsteps and be loyal to the country as well as be a responsible male/female. This would lead to less criminals and lesser criminal activities. I hope everyone will learn from these two policemen and make Singapore a better country.

Tomorrow's test

Tomorrow there will be a Science as well as a Mathematics test. I hope everyone will do well for it and remember what our teachers have taught us. I would expect an extremely difficult Mathematics test and I hope everyone will study hard. The Science test should be easy for everyone if we paid attention during our classes. I hope everyone will do well for tomorrow!
